WNBA players are under all sorts of scrutiny amid their salary demands. And fans have suggested that one particular moment at the beginning of Sunday’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun does not help their case. 

The Fever pulled off a remarkable comeback win on the day, overturning a 21-point deficit to win 99-93 after losing guard Sophie Cunningham to a horrifying knee injury that could mark the end of her season. 

They also got the jump on Connecticut after tipoff, as most of the Sun’s players were not sure which basket they were defending, leaving them free for an open layup.

“Pay us more”: a user joked.

“They’re never beating the allegations,” said a second.

“This is actually pitiful wow,” someone else claimed.

“The game didn’t get better from there,” another user wrote.

“I’ve seen this happen lots of times at all levels of basketball,” a fan argued.

Despite the gaffe, the Sun ran out to a 21-point lead at one point, but they took their foot off the gas long enough to let the Fever back into the game and ended up paying for it.
