Dak Prescott Delivers Intense, Unfiltered Take on Super Bowl Motivation
As the Dallas Cowboys head into the 2025 NFL season with their usual Super Bowl expectations, quarterback Dak Prescott isn’t shying away from the pressure. Entering his 10th year at the helm of “America’s Team,” Prescott has yet to bring a championship to Dallas — and he knows it.
At Cowboys training camp on Thursday, Prescott addressed his Super Bowl drought head-on with a passionate and explicit quote that made waves across NFL circles. The veteran QB told reporters that the absence of a ring isn’t a burden — it’s his greatest motivation.
“What I’ve done or accomplished really doesn’t hold any weight to me,” Prescott said, via Pro Football Talk. “So I can’t say like not having [a Super Bowl] weighs me down or anything. That’s the true f—ing motivation. That’s the truth… in your stomach. Like, that’s what’s in your gut. It’s obvious that I don’t have one so it’s not like, ‘Oh my God, somebody knows there’s a secret.’ Like, my secret’s out. No, f— that.”
Prescott added that the desire to win a title isn’t just about his own legacy, but about delivering for everyone involved with the organization.
“That’s what pushes me to be better each and every day, and that’s what I wanted. That’s not just for myself. It’s for everybody,” he said. “You’ve got to love when your expectations align and your standards align — not only with the coaches and front office but the fans as well.”
Prescott acknowledged the unique challenge of playing for a team like the Cowboys, where expectations never waver — even in the face of setbacks.
“The great part about playing with the Cowboys is it says you’re as good as your last game. Period. What are you doing for us now?” he said. “And when your last games are playoff losses… That’s obvious. That’s what sits on me, and it should sit on fans, too.”
Prescott has delivered solid regular-season numbers throughout his career, but his playoff résumé is a frequent talking point. With a 2–5 postseason record and no appearances beyond the divisional round, criticism has followed him — especially as Dallas continues to fall short in the most important moments.
Still, this version of Prescott appears more motivated than ever. His remarks show a quarterback who’s not hiding from expectations but embracing them. With a new season on the horizon and plenty of talent on the roster, he’s determined to change the narrative in 2025.
Now, the pressure is on — and Dak Prescott knows it. Whether he finally leads the Cowboys back to the Super Bowl remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: he’s using the weight of past disappointments to fuel his fire.
