Cowboys Clarify Plans for Dak Prescott’s Iconic “Here We Go” Cadence
Earlier this year, fans feared that Dak Prescott’s famous “Here we go!” pre-snap cadence might be gone for good. But according to the Dallas Cowboys, that’s not entirely true.
Prescott, known for shouting the phrase in a distinctive deep voice before the snap, has become a viral sensation with the call — widely recognized by NFL fans and frequently featured in memes and TikToks. Fortunately, the Cowboys aren’t scrapping it completely.
This week, new head coach Brian Schottenheimer shed some light on the situation, providing insight into how the team plans to move forward with Prescott’s cadence.
“You guys asked me this in the spring,” Schottenheimer told reporters. “I said we always tweak our cadence, but for those ‘here we go’ lovers out there — there will be some ‘here we go’s.’ But there’ll also be some things we don’t use anymore.”
Schottenheimer emphasized that while they are making changes, they also understand the branding and energy that comes with Prescott’s signature phrase.
“Why would we take it away when it’s got TikTok memes and stuff like that?” he joked. “Why would we change it? We always adjust the cadence a little bit.”
Across the NFL, quarterbacks use a variety of signals, including numbers and colors, to alert their offense when the ball will be snapped. But Prescott’s long, dramatic “Here we go!” has stood out and even become part of his identity on the field.
While it won’t be used on every snap this season, fans can rest assured they’ll still hear it — just not all the time. The Cowboys plan to mix in other cues and cadences to keep defenses guessing and to evolve the team’s offensive rhythm.
So for those who enjoy the theatrics and memes, don’t worry — Prescott’s signature call isn’t going anywhere just yet.
