More Than 120 Pets Displaced by Central Texas Floods Flown to Safety by Tiger Woods’ Charity

As floodwaters ravaged homes and communities across Central Texas, hundreds of families were forced to evacuate with little more than the clothes on their backs. But for many, there was an added heartbreak—being separated from their beloved pets. In the chaos of rescue operations, dogs and cats were left behind, stranded, or turned over to overcrowded shelters already buckling under the pressure of the disaster.

This week, a glimmer of hope arrived—not in the form of a headline or a rescue team, but in the form of a private aircraft, funded entirely by Tiger Woods’ charitable foundation, touching down in Fort Worth with over 120 displaced dogs aboard.

The coordinated mission, organized in partnership with local animal rescue organizations and first responders, successfully evacuated the animals from flood-stricken regions to a newly secured, temporary care facility in Fort Worth, where they will receive medical attention, food, and the loving care they need until they can be reunited with their families—or adopted into new ones.

A spokesperson for the Tiger Woods Foundation confirmed that the golf legend was personally involved in authorizing the operation, saying:

“Tiger wanted to ensure that the most vulnerable victims of this disaster—those without a voice—weren’t forgotten. These animals are part of families. They matter.”

The operation involved a team of volunteer veterinarians, shelter workers, and animal behaviorists who accompanied the pets on the flight, making sure each one was safe, calm, and accounted for. Many of the dogs had been found in flooded homes, clinging to rooftops, or wandering through debris-littered neighborhoods, scared and confused.

One volunteer described the moment the dogs were unloaded in Fort Worth:

“You could see the fear leave their eyes the moment they were given water, a soft bed, and a gentle hand. Some of them hadn’t wagged their tails in days. Today, they did.”

In addition to transportation and shelter, the Woods Foundation has pledged to fund long-term recovery efforts for pet reunification, including microchip scanning, veterinary treatment, and travel assistance for families once they’re settled and ready to bring their pets home.

Social media has erupted with gratitude and emotion, with Texans and animal lovers alike praising Woods for his unexpected and heartfelt gesture. “It’s not just about the golf,” one Twitter user wrote. “It’s about the quiet compassion. Tiger just saved over 120 lives that would have been overlooked.”

Local animal rescue groups are already preparing adoption events for unclaimed pets, and donations have begun pouring in to support food, supplies, and additional airlifts if needed.

As Central Texas continues the long road to recovery, one thing is clear: Tiger Woods’

kindness extended beyond people—reaching the paws, tails, and hearts of animals who needed help the most.

And in the eyes of the rescued dogs now safely curled up in Fort Worth kennels, there is something unmistakable: relief, safety, and—for the first time in days—hope.
